Passing made easy....well easier.....

The first thing to remember is that everyone is trying to pass as something - cool, good-looking, funny, intelligent, sexy etc. Your journey includes any of these plus a change in gender. Easy? Not really, but it isn't impossible either.

There is the saying "You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time". The same goes for passing. Do not expect to be able to pass 100% of the time, however one can present an image that will be acceptable by most of the people most of the time.

Having said you can't pass 100% of the time, the way people sterotype things can also work in your favour. If your image is mostly what people expect to see then human nature can fill in some inconsistancies and see what they assume is normal.

The following information should help as a guide to being accepted in public for who you are.

Its all about how you see yourself

The most important part of passing has nothing to do with your clothes or makeup or suchlike. The key to passing is how you see yourself. If you are confident in who you are then this shows in your demeanor and your image in public will reflect that confidence. You have a right to be yourself so be proud of who you are and you will find you will be accepted. Otherwise if you go out in fear portraying the image that you should not be there then you can expect the public to react accordingly.

Plan where you are going

Consider where you are going and dress accordingly. Think about the style of clothing that people will be wearing there and dress in a similar manner. IE consider the CBD of where you live. At lunch time on a weekday most woman could be wearing a business suit (knee length skirt and formal jacket), whilst they are having their lunch break from the office. The same place on Saturday afternoon will be more casual (long skirt or jeans and tee shirt). If you don't want to stand out then wear something similar.

Walking the Walk, Talking the Talk

How you walk and talk can make or break your image.
