publications, DVD's and videos on relevant topics.
We also hold a conference,every 2
years and an AGM each year the next being in Wellington,in june 11th 2011.
In addition to this, AGENDER provides
education to the general public, talks in High schools and we also
lobby on a political level on issues relevant to our community.
WHO CAN JOIN? Anyone who is transgender basically.
Agender uses the term transgender to cover all aspects of the gender
continuum. Obviously we have transgender people but the group is for
partners and families also. We also are happy to accept supporters as
members.
DO YOU DO PRE JOINING INTERVIEWS? Sort of. While there is no formal
process, it is important for everyone to feel comfortable in a new
environment, so we encourage people to meet with local coordinators
where possible.
MEMBERSHIP FEES As all good organisations
need finances so do we. The fees allow the group to expand and provide
additional services to members. They also help towards promoting the
issues of being transgender positively.
Annual National Membership: $30.00
Note: some regions have a local membership fee
also
As a non-profit organisation recognised by Inland Revenue, Donations
over $5.00 are tax deductible.
MEETINGS The meetings are held at the local
Coordinators home, at a time convenient to them. Arrangements can be
made for those needing to arrive a bit early to dress.
WHAT HAPPENS AT MEETINGS? Well, it's like any other gathering of
people, lots of talk, gossip and discussion. Sometimes there are
special events and these are identified well in advance.
WHAT DO I TAKE? Yourself, of course, and anything you
may need to dress, make-up, etc. Some members contribute a bottle of
wine towards the refreshments for the evening. A contribution towards
supper would also be greatly appreciated.
WHO RUNS THE GROUP? Each area is voluntarily run by a
coordinator. As this is totally voluntary on their behalf, please
respect their home and privacy. There will be a donation container on
the supper table so please pop in a coin or two to help pay for the
tea, coffee and heating etc.
CONDUCT Members shall always conduct
themselves, at any function of the group, in a respectable manner and
have regard for the feelings of other members.
CONFIDENTIALITY
A member shall not identify any
other member in any way, without the express permission of that other
member, unless required by law.
All members will have the strict
regard for other members right to privacy and anonymity
